Well, me and Bob have had a great day here in the big house at Glenthorne. After a splendid breakfast, we all gathered in the studio and I initiated the group into the gentle art of papier mac It’s always nice showing people how to tear paper with the grain because they are delighted to see how easily you can tear nice straight pieces. There’s always someone who comments on how relaxing the repetition is. Exactly! It’s why we do it. Today was all about getting basic shapes made so they can dry overnight, ready for the next stage. Everyone managed to complete all that nicely in the time, then after lunch they could please themselves. A few of them joined me in the studio for a bit more playing with glue and paper. Others took advantage of the rain stopping ( well we are in the Lake District) to get out for a walk. I did that myself later on. It really is gorgeous here. We had some dramatic clouds pierced with bright sunshine sparkling on the trees and back lighting the Herdwicks. All this, and then a delicious meal to round off the day. Doesn’t get any better.
