About Patty

Patty riding her bike

I’m an artist and teacher, based on the edge of the Peak District in North West England.  My main art practice is papier mâché.  I create birds, animals and people, recycling paper, magazines and wire to do so.  I enjoy recycling materials for my work as it brings an element of spontaneity.  Colours are dictated by what I can find, and random words and directional text bring their own qualities to the finished piece.  I use a cooked flour and water paste as my glue, which results in a very pleasing matt finish and the work is ultimately very durable as well as being wholly environmentally sustainable.

As well as my own art practice I also run regular workshops and classes, both in papier mâché and more general drawing and painting.

I hope you enjoy browsing my website.  If you are interested in buying or commissioning work from me or joining any of my classes or workshops do please get in touch.
